A Deadly Race
By Debra A. Cole
Once upon a sunny day,
kitchen objects thought to play.
“We shall have a race,” they cheered.
Pots and Pans just laughed and jeered.
“We can do it!” said the Spoon,
“just forget about those goons.”
Knife, and Fork, Grater too
Scissors, Peeler yelled, “Woohoo!”
At the starting line they queued
to win, each must be very shrewd
Timer dinged a signal start
and all ran off with zest and heart
Round the counter objects flew
gaining speed with each step true.
Then the drama did commence.
Viewers all did grow quite tense.
To the right, strong Scissors slashed
cutting Fork and he dashed.
To the left, Scissors sliced
Knife who hoped to keep his life.
Grater and Peeler fell as well
as their lives Scissors quelled.
What lesson did we learn today?
When running with Scissors....just say “Nay!”
